Definition:

A figure of speech in which two things that seem to have little in common are compared, usually in an arresting or memorable way. For instance, the song "You Are My Sunshine" compares the singer’s beloved to the center of our solar system as a way of expressing her importance in his life.

Example Poem:

A tigers eye is nothing like the moon
It is far more like the sun
The fur is like a soft meadow in the breeze
It is not like a rapid river
His run is fast, but is nothing like a turtle
His ears are pointed like a jagged rock
But aren’t like a smooth one
Its claws are like a sharp knife with many teeth
They are nothing like a spoon
The tiger is so swift and fast
